Download iOS 4.1 Final Version for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch

Apple has just released the very final version for iOS 4.1 for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod
touches. This version of iOS brings a number of new features for iPhone and iPod touch users including: Game Center, HDR Photography for iPhone 4, iTunes
Ping, HD video upload on YouTube and MobileMe for iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G and so on. If you want to keep your jailbreak and unlock, you better not update to this latest firmware now until and unless new jailbreak and unlock tools are available for download.

To update to iOS 4.1, all you need to do is to connect your iPhone or iPod touch with your computer via USB and start iTunes. You should now see a message as shown below. Simply click on “Download and Install” button to get on to the new firmware.

The iPhone
hacker who previously found the 24kpwn exploit has successfully managed to find another bootrom based exploit which can jailbreak all iOS based devices on the latest iOS 4.1 firmware
. What this means is that the next jailbreak most probably is going to be based on bootrom exploit which unlike JailbreakMe will enable users to change boot and recovery mode logos among many other things.

Members of iPhone-Dev Team confirmed this on Twitter:

Also, the best thing about a low-level bootrom exploit is that Apple wont be able to patch it simply by releasing a new firmware update. Instead, it will require Apple to release a revised hardware version of iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad and the iPod touches with new bootroms in order to patch the bootrom exploit. This is the reason why iOS devices (like iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 3G / 4G) which shipped after November 2009 are currently not jailbreakable via PwnageTool because it uses the 24kpwn bootrom exploit, already patched by Apple.

Confirmed ! iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Using Bootrom Exploit works on iPod touch 4G, iPhone 4 and Even iPad

Just a quick little heads-up, MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed that iOS 4.1 Bootrom exploit which was found by another iPhone hacker named pod2g works on the newly released 4th-gen iPod touch 4G, iPhone 4 and even iPad !

So there you have the confirmation! You can read more on the nature of the exploit in one of our earlier post here! We will of course let you know whenever new jailbreak and unlock tools for iOS 4.1 are available for download. Stay tuned! [via Twitter]

Find All iOS 4.1 Game Center Compatible Games in One Place

First announced back at WWDC10, and then again at Apple’s Music Event on September 1st, Game Center is now live on iTunes on both desktops and iOS devices!

The just released “Game Center” section on the iTunes App Store lists all game apps that take advantage of Game Center’s social gaming features such as the ability to invite your iOS 4.1-toting friends over for a little multiplayer game, score higher on the leaderboards and achieve achievements a la Xbox Live etc. Games can be sorted by “Featured”, “Popular” and “Release Date”…

We previously broke the news to our respected readers of a low-level bootrom exploit which would enable jailbreaking on iOS 4.1 and beyond with all versions of the iPod touch, iPhone and of course, iPad! This exploit was special in a way because Apple will not be able to patch the exploit with a software update, instead it will require Apple to release entirely revised hardware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and we all know that we are at least 6 months away from any hardware revisions.

Word around the Twittersphere is that the exploit named SHAtter is in the bootrom section, together with Pwnage 2.0 and 24kpwn which will make all existing devices, including the new iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G pwned for life! It is obviously not publicly available yet, both the Chronic Dev Team and the iPhone Dev Team hackers are hard at work right now trying to get everything ready for full release. Unfortunately though, this jailbreak is reportedly said to be tethered i.e. you will be required to connect your iOS device to your computer on every reboot unlike how untethered userland jailbreak like JailbreakMe worked. iPhone hacker posixninja has confirmed that Geohot also had this exploit dubbed at that time as “pwned4life” before leaving the jailbreak scene.

In an unexpected update to his last blog post titled “Meh”, Geohot has announced that he, for the time being at least has kind of abandoned the whole iPhone jailbreak and unlock scene. The reasons according to him are as follows.

Sorry, this post was probably a bad idea. Next time I won’t say anything. I miss when this blog was actually about technical things(I’ve been reacting too much to the feedback, which led it to the place it’s in now). I didn’t fully realize most of the current scene don’t care unless they are getting something. Now I do. It’s late tonight, I’ll think about what to do about this in the morning.

The real reason behind no release isn’t technical. It’s just that it will never stop, after blackra1n, people demand unlock, after blacksn0w, people demand untethered. I miss the days when jailbreaking and unlocking were difficult, it attracted a much higher caliber crowd.
Also, to the haters, the picture is quite obviously fake

While I respect this guy for all his contributions in the past, and I understand the reasons he has put in, there is still something about this whole story which makes me wonder if Apple has something to do with this. Maybe he was offered money?, or maybe he was threatened with criminal charges for continuing? well who knows. He showed off a untethered jailbreak for new iPhone and iPod
touches back in March, followed by a jailbreak for iPad and iOS 4 Beta in April, but none of them ever saw light of day makes no sense to me.

For those of you who don’t know, George Hotz (Geohot) is the guy who first unlocked the original iPhone in 2007, followed by first jailbreak for iPhone 3GS, and then later he was the first one to provide all-in-one jailbreak / unlock solution for iPhone 3.1.2 firmware through his famous tool, named blackra1n and blacksn0w.

So where does that leave us – the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) and iPod touch 3G users? Well, Comex’s Spirit like jailbreak tool is now the only hope. It will probably be released once Apple rolls out the new iOS 4.0.1 / 4.1 firmware update for iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G.

UPDATE 1: Geohot shuts down his iPhone public for public. His blog now requires private invite in order to read the content. This is what he said on Twitter:

“iPA God” is a new application
which can be used to download paid apps from the App Store for free, directly onto your iOS device! According to the developer, you won’t have to jailbreak your iOS device to use iPA God. It works on an exploit found in iOS 4.1 / iOS 4.2 which allows you to create particular files on the filesystem. The developer took the opportunity and made an application out of it to make the entire process easier.

In the video embedded below, “iPA God” is shown in action running on a non-jailbroken iPad on iOS 4.2 (which is yet to be jailbroken!).

Obviously, it won’t ever be available in the App Store since it infringes copyrights of developers who painstakingly developed their application which they intended to sell for real money. Apple would never allow such an app in the store.

Since it won’t be allowed on the App Store and the developer says that jailbreak is not required, iPA God will be available “soon” as a direct download from the dev’s website (please done ask for the link as we strongly condemn piracy here). The developer has already said that it will cost somewhere under $20. Its funny how he’s charging money for his app. Maybe we can install a cracked version of iPA God, just to give him a taste of his own medicine!

Kad nebi bio to skrti developer onda bi to nekaj i valjalo, ovako nema svrhe app...
