It seems that I am not very lucky with Linuxmod releases that have even numbers. Linuxmod2 was a complete disaster and Linuxmod4 did not made any progress. 
So I thought I carry on with Linuxmod5. I have taken some of the Z6 font mod and some of the V8 font mod, tested and changed the code (I am not a programmer, hence it is double hard for me) until I found a font mod that seems to run quite smoothly, but only testing will show! 
It is still a manual font mod installation, just press the Font Changer menu in Tweaks and select any of the 8 fonts and wait until you get the message "Font X installed" (X= the font number you have selected!). 
 IMPORTANT! 
Before you can do that you have to copy all the files from the supplied "fonts" folder, Font1.ttf, Font2.ttf....Font8.ttf, Number1.ttf, Number2.ttf....Number8.ttf, into the fonts folder in the user memory (/ezxlocal/download/mystuff/fonts) - I usually do that straight after RSD says PASS by leaving RSD open and connect with FTP to transfer the files. 
As this is manual font mod installation the V8 will always start with its original font and you have to select the font you want afterwards. 
The way I have arranged the font files, you will be able to use your own fonts, just create 2 files (Font1-8.ttf and Number1-8.ttf) from your font and copy those into the fonts folder on your V8 replacing the existing ones. 
Example: arial.ttf is the font you want, now copy arial.ttf to a new folder and rename to Font1.ttf, now copy arial.ttf again and rename to Number1.ttf. You can use any number from 1 to 8, but make sure you always use the same number for the same font. 
 I have not changed anymore in this firmware as I was soley concetrating on the correct working of the font mod.
