HTCSense.com se gasi

The sky is falling! Mayans predicted it! It’s the end of the world as we know it! Well, nothing so dramatic – but if you rely on HTC’s Sense service to back up your phone’s data, it might as well be. The HTCSense.com website is receiving a major overhaul soon, and aparently it’s big enough that they need to scrap just about everything they’ve built up so far. That means that on April 30th, all the personal data that HTC has saved for backups and emergencies will be wiped clean.

Don’t worry, Sense users – your data will still be sitting on your phone, nice and safe. And though HTC hasn’t detailed what it intends to do with the website and the service after the deadline, odds are pretty good that they’ve got some kind of replacement waiting in the wings. But if you want a little extra peace of mind for your synced data, you can download all of it in a personalized ZIP package. Just log in at HTCSense.com, click on the Account overview section, then click “Download”.

What inspired this shift? Probably some new features in HTC’s SenseUI 4 update. April will be the first month that the HTC One family (X, S and V) will be widely available, and the Sense 4.0 update isn’t going out to older phones – they get version 3.6. Whether it’s just the software equivalent of switching to the Dewey system or something more exciting has yet to be seen. In any case, backup your data just to be on the safe side.

Nije vezano čisto za Android, ali da malo temu oživimo


Ekran koji sam popravlja ogrebotine

Svi znamo kako su na ekranima pametnih telefona i tableta najgore stvari otisci prstiju i ogrebotine, koje se nakon nekog vremena pojavljuju čak i na najkvalitetnijim ekranima, uključujući one iz Gorilla Glass tehnologije.

Dok se otisci prsti mogu lako riješiti brisanjem, ogrebotine su nešto što do sada nismo mogli uklanjati niti na jedan način, a jedinu zaštitu su predstavljale prozirne naljepnice za zaštitu ekrana, koje smo s vremena na vrijeme morali mijenjati.

Znanstvenici i inženjeri iz japanske tvrtke Toray, na nedavno održanom MWC sajmu u Barceloni, prikazali su tehnologiju posebnog premaza (filma) za zaštitu ekrana pametnih telefona, koja im omogućuje otpornost na otiske prstiju (pogledajte video dolje), no očito se nisu na tome zaustavili.

Njihov najnoviji izum dolazi u obliku tankog prozirnog filma koji omogućuje stvaranje kemijskih procesa za otklanjanje sitnih ogrebotina na ekranima pametnih telefona i tableta.

Njihov novi zaštitni film je u stanju popravljati ogrebotine za samo 10 sekundi, vrlo je fleksibilan, znači neće pucati ili se guliti, a dopušta prolaz 90 % svjetla.

Što se trajanja tiče, znanstvenici kažu kako su njihovi testovi pokazali da na u sustavu ne dolazi do degradacije čak ni nakon 20.000 popravaka ogrebotina.

Za sada još nije poznato kada će se ovaj samopopravljajući film naći na prvim modelima mobitela, no obzirom da s Torayem surađuje HTC koji je na MWC-u prikazao mobitel sa zaštitom od otisaka prstiju, vrlo je vjerojatno kako će se i film za popravljanje ogrebotina vrlo brzo naći na njihovim modelima pametnih telefona.

Google Rumored To Be In Talks To Sell Motorola Mobility Handset Division To Huawei

When people think of the biggest story for 2011, Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility immediately comes to mind. The initial thought was Google may have had plans to use Motorola to create a new line of Nexus premium devices, but really the more likely theory for Google’s major purchase has to do with MOTO’s vast number of patents— 17,000 to be exact, which would help in the legal fights against Microsoft and Apple as seen here… and here… and here again as some examples. Despite the sheer number of patents which would help, Google still has to deal with all facets of MOTO including the 20,500 MOTO employees working in 92 major facilities across 97 countries and set top cable box business in addition to mobile division. Google can be applauded for being aggressive and trying to make bold moves, but could it have gotten ahead of itself when making this big of a purchase? More importantly, could Google actually be considering a sale of MOTO so it can focus on its core strength– web search– instead of getting into the handset business? There are some indications that points to yes.

And so in moving forward, Matias Duarte, Director of Android User Experience, announced way back at CES that there were official Android design guidelines coming. The effort is to assist developers in creating applications that are more consistent with the look and feel of the flourishing OS.

Oracle bi zauvijek mogao promijeniti Android

Pravni obračun između divova Silicijske doline Oraclea i Googlea mogao bi testirati krajnje granice zaštite autorskih prava na softver i nanovo napisati pravila za veliki dio tehnološke industrije.
U slučaju koji se počeo odvijati u Okružnom sudu San Francisca, Oracle je naveo da je Google prekršio intelektualno vlasništvo u razvoju popularnog Android smartphona. Naime, Oracle tvrdi da je tvrtka iz Mountain Viewa koristila 37 "paketa sučelja za programiranje aplikacija" ili kraće API-ja za programski jezik Java, i to bez plaćanja ikakve naknade za licenciranje.

Linaro Android Nearly Doubles ICS Performance, And Now Parts Of It Are Being Added to CM9

News started to trickle out this week about a new Android build called Linaro. Basically, it takes stock Android 4.0.4 and makes it super-fast, and super-awesome(er). In fact, it can boost performance by up to 100 percent over stock. Considering how fast and fluid stock Android 4.0.x already is (especially compared to older versions of the OS), that's quite impressive. Don't take my word for it, though, here's one of the main Linaro guys, Bernhard Rosenkranzer, showing it off on a TI Pandaboard. The Pandaboard features the OMAP 4430 processor (the same one that's in the Droid RAZR)
